Description: This is a compulsory course, with a theoretical explanation of each of the modules accompanied by a series of practical exercises that participants will have to carry out during the sessions.
Outcomes: The doctoral student will acquire the necessary tools to access, evaluate, use and disseminate information in an ethical manner.
Evaluation systems: The seminar is face-to-face, so attendance is compulsory and will be controlled by means of signatures in each of the modules. At the end of the activity, a report will be submitted to the tutor/tutor to assess the acquisition of the competences associated with this activity.

Description: The aim is to provide information and training on the possibilities of new information and communication technologies for historical research in relation to: resources for publishing and disseminating information; multimedia products; the usefulness and use of Internet search engines; digital libraries; online catalogues of archives, libraries and museums; digital image processing; automated management of bibliographic references (Endnote, REFWORKS, etc.).
Results: At the end of the seminar the PhD student should be able to handle with skill and ability the resources of the new information and communication technologies, especially those related to search systems and management of sources (primary and secondary) necessary for their doctoral research.
Assessment systems: Attendance will be monitored and students will be required to submit exercises for assessment by the seminar leader.

Description: The aim is for PhD students to participate in national and international scientific debates with their own original contribution related to their research topic.
Results: The doctoral student must be able to present, argue and defend in a specialised environment a personal and original work (communication or paper) related to his/her research topic.
Assessment systems: Presentation of the certificate of attendance at the conference and, where appropriate, publication of the communication or paper in the corresponding proceedings.

Description: The thesis as a learning activity and a means of acquiring research skills and transmitting scientific knowledge. Aspects such as: the choice of topic and the formulation of hypotheses; search, selection and treatment of sources; organisation of materials; structure and argumentation; aspects of writing; defence of the thesis and publication of the results are analysed.
Results: The aim of this seminar is for the doctoral student to acquire the basic practical knowledge necessary to successfully prepare and write a doctoral thesis.
Assessment systems: In addition to monitoring attendance, the lecturer in charge of the course will assess the summary of the doctoral thesis project presented by each student. Part-time students may substitute the attendance to the theoretical part with the written presentation of a paper on the specific bibliography indicated by the lecturer in charge of the seminar.

Description: Pre-doctoral training at universities and international research centres in the problems under investigation.
Outcomes: The PhD student must be able to present, argue and defend their work in a specialised environment.
Assessment systems: Presentation of the corresponding certificate from the university or research centre, a report on the doctoral student's progress issued by the lecturer or researcher responsible and a brief final report on the results of the stay by the doctoral student.

Description: Participation in seminars organised by the research groups or teams of the Doctoral Programme, or other related Spanish or foreign doctoral programmes, with the participation of guest lecturers and researchers, on methodological and conceptual issues related to new historiographical trends (in history, art history or archaeology) and related social sciences (anthropology, sociology, law, political science, economics, geography) and their application in historical research and analysis.
Results: The methodology and the conceptual and theoretical apparatus of history and, where appropriate, related social sciences. To acquire skills for the formulation of one's own working hypotheses and the selection of methodological strategies applied to doctoral research.
Assessment systems: The doctoral student must present the certificate of attendance corresponding to each seminar and a written report providing specific evidence of having assimilated the contents, as well as their capacity for critical analysis in relation to the proposals presented in the seminar.
